Proton VPN comes from the Swiss team behind Proton Mail. The apps are open source, the no-logs policy has been audited, and its free plan has no data cap, which is rare: most free VPNs are either throttled to death or sell your data.
The free tier picks a server for you and is slower at peak times; the paid plan adds fast servers in many countries, Secure Core routing and NetShield ad blocking. A strong pick if you care about privacy more than price.
